CARE Canada Present Jully Black Benefit Concert

CARE Canada and I Am Powerful Ottawa are pleased to present international recording artist Jully Black.  This concert is in anticipation of International Women’s Day and will raise awareness and critical funds for CARE’s Maternal and Newborn Child Health project in Ethiopia. Jully Black is multiple Juno-award winner and hailed as Canada’s Queen of R&B/Soul by her fans, Jully Black has perfected the art of explosive live performances that showcase her unique and powerful voice as well as her innate ability to engage audiences of all ages and backgrounds. As outspoken advocates for equality amongst all people, in particular women and girls, Jully Black and CARE Canada forged a unique collaboration. This electrifying concert will celebrate CARE's rich history of empowering women and girls as we approach International Women's Day.

The Project:
Proceeds from this event will support CARE Canada's project in Ethiopia entitled Improved Health and Nutrition of Vulnerable Women and Children. The project aims to improve the lives of more than 175,000 people, delivering education and training in a wide variety of areas including: nutrition for pregnant and nursing women; health and hygiene practices; dietary diversity; growing nutritious food in backyard gardens; and gender equality.

"For the Kids" Charitable Auction

The Ottawa Children’s Treatment Centre delivers specialized care to 4,000 children and youth with physical and/or developmental disabilities in the Ottawa, Eastern Ontario and Northern Lanark (Cornwall to Renfrew) region. We help them to be mobile, to learn, to communicate and to integrate into society. “For the Kids" is a charitable auction that is now in its 18th year and is the main source of philanthropic revenue for the OCTC. Each year, the 600-900 guests attending the event get to hear stories about the children and youth who use the OCTC’s services and have the opportunity to bid on over 300 silent auction items as well as to participate in the live auction. Guests also have an opportunity to hear about the challenges and triumphs of the children and youth who live with physical and developmental disabilities and to experience the power of community to support and enrich the lives of these children in a very meaningful way.

3rd Annual Ottawa Heart Research Conference

Major advances in treatment and prevention have finally arrived to heart failure care.  As a result, heart failure treatment is currently being re-organized and re-examined.  Still, much remains to be uncovered about underlying mechanisms contributing to the spectrum of heart failure conditions but recent research promises novel treatments and innovations are on the horizon.
