It is the years of absolute dedication and selfless commitment of our amazing team that has made it possible for Shaw Centre to remain one of the top convention centres in the world. Being named a runner-up for the title of World’s Best Convention Centre in 2014, a prestigious award handed out by the International Association of Congress Centres (AIPC), is further proof of our staff’s efforts. These efforts were recognized at Shaw Centre’s annual Long-Term Service Award ceremony, re-enforcing the important role our staff plays in the overall success of the facility.
As a LEED certified meeting facility, we take pride in being a leader of sustainable practices while providing the best in audiovisual, culinary excellence, and extraordinary service. Our amazing team, that works in perfect synchronicity, is key to maintaining the excellence that we strive for. The Long-Term Service Award Program was launched in 1999 to thank employees who have been with us for five years or more.
This program is a valuable component of our extensive employee recognition efforts as it allows us to honour experienced members of the Shaw Centre team for their knowledge and ongoing contribution to the achievements and success of our business. I am very proud of Shaw Centre’s ability to retain dedicated employees in an environment where over 160 Long-Term Service Awards have been distributed since the re-opening of the Centre in 2011.
This year, our senior management and I gathered in the facility at the crEATe kitchen in a special celebration to honour 19 long-standing employees who have completed 5, 10, 15, 20, and 35 years in the service. It was a tremendous pleasure to hand these awards to members of our team who have laid the building blocks of our success.
